ABOUT STARLIFT RECORDS

STARLIFT RECORDS was created in 2024 by Soren Sorensen. Soren has been offering his services as a self empowerment coach since 2005. In addition, Soren has extensive personal music and business development experience. In 2024, while considering the next phase of his life, Soren was inspired to become an artist development coach and create a record company focused on authentic (and commercially viable) artist development (which is lacking in the industry) in order to help artists create peace, power, and purpose.

Starlift Records is not a major label and is not connected to a major label. It is a small label that is dedicated to artist development, which major labels are rarely interested in. We are extremely selective and only offer "artist development" contracts to truly exceptional artists we believe in; and who believe in themselves and are willing to do the work required to be successful. If a mutually acceptable agreement is reached, we will focus on preparing you for whatever is the next most appropriate step for you; which is often either a legal transfer to a larger record company that can best serve your needs at that time or a set of DIY strategies.

Our vision is authentic artist development and our mission is to help artists create personal peace, power, and purpose while entertaining and inspiring others. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HAVING AN "ARTIST DEVELOPMENT" CONTRACT WITH STARLIFT RECORDS AND JUST HIRING SOREN TO BE MY "ARTIST DEVELOPMENT" COACH?

The primary difference is that without an "Artist Development" contract, you will have to pay for all coaching, recording, promotion, etc. The second major difference is that you will have to do all of the things that a record company would otherwise do for you. Either way, Soren will give you the same dedication and quality of service.

WHAT IS THE KEY TO SUCCESS AS AN ARTIST?

That all depends upon how you define success! Commercial success is never guaranteed, but there are many things you can do to increase your chances of success. The first thing is to hire a good coach and keep taking the next most powerful step. You do not fail until you stop; so, do not ever stop unless you genuinely lose interest in the game. The second thing is to work seriously on your singing and performing skills every day. Finally, realize that commercial success as an artist is part science, part art, part hard work, and part good luck.

WHAT GENRES OF MUSIC ARE YOU WILLING TO INVEST IN?

As long as you are passionate about the genre and I am convinced that our plan can be profitable, we are good.

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED? CAN WE WORK TOGETHER REMOTELY?

I presently live in the Treasure Valley (Idaho), about 20 minutes from Boise. I have previously lived in Portland (Oregon), Seattle, Denver, SLC, and NY. I have also spent significant time in France and India.

That said, I am willing to travel almost anywhere. Also note that in many cases it is possible to work together effectively without physically meeting. LET'S TALK!

If you are considering applying for an artist development contract with Starlift Records, please know:

1) We require integrity of ourselves and our artists. If we cannot satisfactorily rectify a situation wherein one of our artists has acted without integrity, they will be in breach of contract and immediately let go (dropped). Similarly, we encourage our artists to require integrity of everyone they have important relationships with.

2) We intend to empower and inspire our artists to take control of their own careers and their own life as a whole. That said, we treat our artists as critical business partners and expect the same treatment from them.

3) We intend to have fun, make exceptional music, and make a lot money for ourselves and our artists. If we are not having fun and making great music, why do it? And if we aren't making money, we can't do it at all!
