About Reiki
1) Reiki is a Japanese word that simply means "Universal Life-Force Energy". Reiki is the infinite mysterious energy that flows through, and permeates, all that exists. Health and happiness is the natural result of free-flowing energy; while disease and unhappiness is the natural result of stagnant energy caused by "Energy Blocks". The "Universal Life-Force Energy" known as Reiki is also known by many other names such as Ki, Qi, Chi, Prana, Spirit, and the very presence of God.
2) The word Reiki is also used to refer to a specific method of working with "Universal Life-Force Energy" which was created in 1914 by Dr. Mikao Usui of Japan.

About Reiki Healing Sessions
Reiki sessions begin by consciously setting an intention for the session. The intention can be anything related to one's physical and/or psychological well being; and it can be very specific or very general. Then, the client lies down comfortably on a Reiki table (or, if prefered, sits comfortably in a Reiki chair) and relaxes while the Reiki practitioner works with the clients energy system in order to remove blocks, restore balance, and reconnect the client to the infinite source of universal life-force energy (aka Reiki).
